Embraced by the rivers Danube, Garam and Ipoly, 3 Rivers Valley is the most outstanding wine region of South Slovakia. Surrounded by forests and water most of the vineyards in the Komárom-Ipolyság-Érsekújvár triangle used to belong to the posessions of the Esztergom archdiocese. A great variety of wines are produced here: lighter Leánykas, substantial Rieslings and complex Olaszrizlings, but also methode traditional sparkling wines, fruity rosés and also orange wines. The different grape varieties are grown in vineyards with a particular microclimate, thanks to the proximity of the 3 rivers and the diversity of soil types. All these terroir characteristics are reflected in the wines produced here.
