Zweigelt is a typical Austrian grape variety. It was created by Dr. Fritz Zweigelt in 1922 from a cross between St. Laurent and Kékfrankos. As the Fischer family also owns an estate in Austria, they have a lot of experience with the variety. The 2019 Zweigelt is characterised by fresh, vibrant red fruits on the nose, mainly ripe blackberry and lilac. The palate is nicely balanced with the nose, bringing the promised notes of ripe sour cherries and cherries. Medium tannins characterise this light, easy-drinking red wine. An excellent accompaniment to Hungarian cold dinners, boiled beef, ham, tomato pasta.
