Heumann La Trinità Villányi Franc, 2017

Cabernet Franc, which is used in Bordeaux for blends or as a single varietal in the Loire region, is regarded the flagship grape variety in Villány. It has perfectly adapted to the terroir. A long ripening season with sufficient sunshine allows the variety to fully ripen. According to some leading international wine experts (Jancis Robinson, Michael Broadbent) Villány produces the best single varietal Cabernet Francs worldwide. Cabernet Franc shows more elegance than Cabernet Sauvignon. It also displays great fruit and spiciness. Cabernet Franc goes very well with roasted beef, venison, lamb and also duck. This wine is definitely worth a try!

The 2017 vintage was only recently awarded 92 points by Andreas Larsson, Sommelier World Champion 2007 (blindtasted.com) plus a 5 star rating (18+ points) in the Hungarian Wine Magazine, Vince, in the February 2022 issue.

Tasting note: Dark bright purple. Black fruits in the nose with a hint of vanilla and pepper. On the palate black berries and cassis plus a hint of dark chocolate. Well-integrated acidity and great structure with fine grained tannins. Full bodied yet elegant and fruity wine with a very long finish. Great potential for further development. To be served at 16-17 ˚C.
