Gróf Degenfeld Vineyard has been producing its bottle-aged Extra Brut Furmint sparkling wine using the traditional method since 2011. From the 2019 vintage onwards, it will be sold with the ’organic’ tag added to the labelling.
The base wine is fermented in tank and then bottled for a second fermentation. After bottling, the wine is aged for a minimum of 1.5-2.5 years before disgorging, to enrich it with the valuable substances extracted from the fine lees. On the nose, it has the apple and citrus notes typical of Furmint, with a hint of Tokaj minerality. It is characterised by the refreshing presence of fine bubbles and a nice acid-sugar ratio.
