It was once a well-known variety in all wine regions and, although not many people are aware of it, it is also grown in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria, in addition to Tokaj and Somló. The winery has deliberately planted a clone that is not too prone to shrivelling and is suitable for dry wine production. It is believed that the southern, warmer soil and loess subsoil brings forth a friendlier, fruitier face of the variety. Restrained quince and pear notes on the nose and a lively acidity on the palate. With food, it can even stand up to a dish like steamed dumpling with sauerkraut.
