Depending on the vintage, different proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc make up this classic Bordeaux cuvée. A truly complex wine, it combines the two main traits of red wines: fruit and spice. Each sip reveals new layers, the notes from black cherry, blackcurrant, sour cherry and plum to red paprika and white pepper. A beautiful wine in which all three varieties can be recognised individually, but none of them overwhelms the others. The harmony is not just a matter of the right blend of varieties, but acidity, tannins, alcohol and extract are all in balance too. The discreet use of oak allows the varietal characteristics to prevail, but on the finish it adds an appealingly sweet, coconut note.
